APAS delegates attend 2010 AGM

The 10th Anniversary Annual General Meeting of the Agricultural Producers Association of Saskatchewan (APAS) was held on March 23 and 24 in Regina in order to review the Association's recent activities, debate key policy resolutions and to elect the 2010-2011 board of directors and executive.

The twelve District Directors elected for 2010-2011 are:

Returning as President will be Greg Marshall, a grains and oilseeds farmer from the Seimens area. Jeff Simpson of Ruthilda and Don Connick of Gull Lake will also be returning in their roles as Vice-Presidents of the organization.

 

"The election results clearly indicate the confidence and support of our members for the leadership and excellent staff that we have in the organization," said Marshall. "I'm extremely proud to be re-elected as APAS President and I look forward to working diligently with the Board, staff and our partners to promote Saskatchewan agriculture and to protect the interests of our members and all Saskatchewan farm families."

Policy resolutions were passed regarding railway running rights, environment issues and the CFA's National Food Strategy. In addition to Board and Executive Elections, new members were elected to fill vacant positions on all four of APAS' Policy Committees.

APAS is Saskatchewan’s general farm organization formed to provide farmers and ranchers with a democratically elected, grassroots, non-partisan, producer organization based on rural municipal boundaries. As the united voice of thousands of agricultural producers in Saskatchewan, we strive to represent the views of a wide variety of agricultural stakeholders in order to form comprehensive policies that can benefit all sectors of society.
