Regina – The Agricultural Producers Association of Saskatchewan (APAS) will be hosting its Annual General Meeting on December 3-5, 2008 at the Regina Inn. Rural ratepayers, media, guests and visitors are welcome to attend during the afternoon of December 4 and the morning of December 5, 2008.
Thursday’s open agenda includes a presentation at noon by Wendy Kelly of the Saskatchewan Dairy Producers Association about Food Sovereignty; followed by Elwin Hermanson, Chief Commissioner, Canadian Grain Commission presenting Changes and Issues in the 2008 -2009 crop Year and Robert McLean of the Keystone Agricultural Producers who will focus his presentation on the Producers’ Perspective on the Railway Revenue Cap. The Saskatchewan Ministry of Agriculture will close the day’s formal session by highlighting the Government of Saskatchewan’s priorities in agriculture.
Thursday evening will feature a banquet and entertainment by Saskatchewan comedy duo, Don’t Mind Us. Mark Schweighardt and Lee Bells are the experienced corporate comedians who make up the Don't Mind Us Comedy Duo.
Friday morning starts with a presentation from Laurent Pellerin – Vice President of the Canadian Federation of Agriculture at 8:15 am followed by the Government of Canada, Department of Agriculture and AgriFoods Canada at 9:30 am.
Following the 10:30 am refreshment break on Friday, registered delegates will reconvene to discuss APAS business and elect the 2008-2009 Board of Directors. These sessions will be closed to visitors and media. APAS will host a media conference at 4:30 pm on Friday afternoon, immediately following the adjournment of the AGM to introduce the 2008-2009 Board of Directors and to highlight the 2008-2009 policy resolutions arising from the AGM.
