
April, 2008 - APAS reps meet in Regina to direct APAS BOD/Staff to focus efforts on current crisis in Livestock Sector.
May, 2008 - Rocky Lake Management (RLM) contracted by APAS to undertake study of drivers affecting cow-calf prices. Rising feed costs, exchange and interest rates an impending COOL legislation identified as key issues to be investigated.

July & August, 2008 - Discussion of policy options at District meetings across the province. APAS reps debate policy details and recommend key solutions.
September, 2008 - Feed prices and the CDN dollar drop dramatically. COOL Legislation starts to have dramatic affect on cattle exports. APAS staff and BOD review rep's recommendations and request that RLM review findings in light of recent economic events.
October, 2008 - Economic Crisis in US and around the world dramatically impacts commodity prices and availability of credit, especially in the USA.
November, 2008 - Livestock Committee meets in Regina to review data and update research.
December , 2008 - Complete and updated report released to Saskatchewan commodity groups and industry partners with an invitation to work together to develop a "Made In Saskatchewan" solution.
January 2008 - Copies of Report and Policy Options sent to Federal and Provincial Ag Ministers and Leaders in preparation of 2009 budgets and the recently announced economic stimulus packages.
January, 2009- Federal Budget released. APAS gives rating of E due to failure to address crisis for Livestock Producers
February 2009 - Minister of Agriculture for Saskatchewan announces immediate support of $71 million to struggling livestock producers, in lead up to Provincial budget. Federal government and industry groups warn of possible trade-related sanctions.
March 2009 - APAS commends Saskatchewan government for livestock relief while offering unique solution to ‘sanction stalemate’. APAS continues to lobby both levels of government to develop effective polices to ensure the long term future of the livestock sector.
